High-Volume Industrial Composites
- Applications
- Mass-transit panels, automotive headlamp reflectors, corrosion-resistant valve housings, and structural electrical enclosures.
- Composition
- A high-viscosity unsaturated thermoset matrix resin (polyester or epoxy) blended with 15%–30% chopped glass reinforcement fibres (typically 6mm–25mm), mineral flame retardants, and styrene viscosity adjusters.
- Processing
- Processed in automated injection, transfer, or high-tonnage compression moulds. Under heat and pressure it fills dense geometries and cures rapidly into a structural composite with the stiffness of non-ferrous metals.
